Set up in 2020 in Paris, The Hedge School is now ready to open its doors in Le Fleix in Périgord!
Mark Fitzpatrick, founder and head-teacher of the School, has twenty years’ experience teaching language, literature, and culture at all levels of education, from Primary to Secondary to University, up to the Research Supervision of Post-graduate students.
He has lived and worked in France for over twenty years, and succeeded in the prestigious Agrégation d’Anglais French state exams, coming second in the country out of 2,000 candidates.
He has a PhD in Literature from the Université de Paris III – Sorbonne Nouvelle, and has studied and taught in Ireland, the United States, and France. He has also worked in Hollywood in a television writing team, studied Film and Creative Writing on a scholarship at the University of California, Berkeley, written and directed prize-winning plays, performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with the Granary Players, and published on academic and general subjects. He was also, briefly, a Clown-for-Hire.
He is now a poet, novelist, and independent scholar, and the Editor-in-Chief of The Hidden Library independent publishing house.
